Today, he has achieved being a 6 time world champion by the World Natural Powerlifting Federation (WNPF) and currently holds 2 WNPF World Records. Dave is a powerhouse in other ways too, as he also plays on the Palm Beach Tigersharks Sled Hockey team.

Wheelchair Basketball for Kids
We are excited to announce the first practice for wheelchair basketball is going to be Sunday, Dec 3rd!
This is a joint effort of Dynamic Orthopedics, Memorial Adaptive Sports and the Sharks adult wheelchair basketball team. We have collaborated to bring this sporting outlet for kids together. There is no other ongoing sporting activity like this for kids in the South Florida area with physical disabilities. The benefits of socialization, exercise and self confidence are rewarding to the player and the family! Luis Amaro has been playing wheelchair basketball for over 15 years himself and has the desire to help coach this newly forming team. Also, we have volunteers that include Nova DPT Students who are motivated to come alongside these kids in support during practices. The team will fall under the nonprofit of the Fort Lauderdale Sharks.
So now you are asking how you can be involved in this amazing opportunity? I’m glad you asked! Choose one or ALL of the following:
- If you are age 5-16 years old, come out and play!
- If you have a child age 5-16 years old, bring your child to practice!
- If you want to support this non-profit team financially, contact Ray at rshipman@mhs.net
This sport requires athletic basketball wheelchairs. It is our desire to see these kids get these wheelchairs for ongoing play capability
- If you want to be involved in any other way and want to be added to the mailing list, contact Melisa at melisa@dynamicorthopedics.com
LET’S PLAY!
Sunday, December 3rd from 4PM-6PM
Joseph C. Carter Park
1450 W Sunrise Blvd
Fort Lauderdale, FL 33311
The practice schedule will continue biweekly.
For your convenience, feel free to contact Coach Luis Amaro at 786-359-3379.

Services Dynamic Orthopedics Offers
Orthotics for children has been our most defined area of expertise, but did you know that we also offer prosthetics? We do and we are expanding in this area! Having practitioners and technicians that are comfortable creating and fabricating the optimal device to achieve your goals is what we strive to do. Currently we have 3 clinicians on staff to meet your orthotic and prosthetic needs. In the development of vacuum systems for suspension, microprocessor knees, and carbon fiber energy storing feet, we want to move with the technology and provide you the most effective prosthetic system.
We also have a strong suit in spinal bracing. Have a child with scoliosis? We can help him or her achieve their goals for spinal correction.
Also since we have had alot of experience with orthotic needs, we can also do more complex bracing such as custom elbow and knee extension splints with joints, resting handsplints, custom collars, carbon fiber afo’s and ultraflex bracing. In the future, we are looking to develop our methods of taking an image with a 3-D Scanner.
If you can think it, we can probably create it! Ask us if you have a specific need!
